Stanley R. Utemark

Stanley R. Utemark, 88 of Hubbard, Nebraska died Wednesday November 2, 2011 at a Sioux City Hospital. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hubbard with the Rev. Paul Albenesius officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in South Sioux City. Visitation at the church will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday with a Scriptural Wake Service at 7 P.M. Becker – Hunt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Stanley was born April 1, 1923, in Wakefield, Nebraska the son of Ernest T. and Marie C. (Lueth) Utemark. He graduated from Wakefield High School in 1940. He farmed on the home place in Wakefield until 1976. He was an active member of the Farmers Union Co-Op and Northeast Nebraska Cattle Feeder Association. He married Patricia J. (Patsy) Beacom May 14, 1976 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Emerson, Nebraska. The couple moved into Hubbard and he went into the Trenching and Plumbing Business until 2000 when he retired. He purchased his first throughbred race horse in 1959 and raced the Nebraska Circuit, South Dakota and Denver Colorado. He was a member and served on the Board of Directors of Atokad Agricultural and Racing Association. He served on the Hubbard town board over thirty years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hubbard. He is survived by a brother Norval and his wife Sharon Utemark of Westpoint, Nebraska, two nieces and their husbands: Linda and Steve Anderson, Karla and Ted Heimann, a nephew Kevin Utemark, brothers-in-law: Don (Marlene) Beacom and Mike (Carole) Beacom, and several nieces and nephews from the Beacom families. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia July 10, 2010 in Sioux City, a brother Eugene and a sister Orva James. Pallbearers will be: Pat Hassler, Keith and Gary Jensen, Gary (Pete) Eriksen, Pat Beacom and Ronald Hunn. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Fredrickson, Bill Mattes, Bud Simpson and Charles Soderberg.
