May M. Stoner, 92 of Homer, Nebraska passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 at a South Sioux City Care Center. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Homer, with the Rev. Randy Rasmussen officiating. Burial will be in the Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, Nebraska. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. Thursday at the church with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Becker – Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City is in charge of arrangements. May was born November 24, 1919 in rural Hubbard, Nebraska the daughter of John C. and Clara B (Larsen) Jensen. She graduated from high school and received her teaching certificate. She was an elementary teacher in rural country schools. She married Bernard D. Stoner June 1, 1941 at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City. After the couple was married they farmed together in Thurston and Dakota County. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Homer, the Women of The ELCA, had served as an officer and the Rose Bud Extension Club. She was a former 4-H Leader and Cub Scout Leader. She loved farming, gardening, cooking, fishing, embroidering and being “just a Mom”. Survivors include a son Ken and his wife Judy of Hubbard, a daughter Sandy and her husband Ron Allen of Homer, a daughter-in-law Dawn Stoner of Yankton, SD, eight grandchildren: Shellie Church, Lisa Hoch, Chad Allen, Ted, Kevin, Dana and Darrell Stoner and Audra McMillian and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bernard on April 9, 2010 in Emerson, Nebraska a son Dr. Dan Stoner and two sisters: Erna Longwell and her twin Faye Lauritsen. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
