Joyce P. Surber, 70, formerly of South Sioux City passed away Monday January 9, 2010 at her residence in Newcastle, Nebraska. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Becker – Hunt Funeral in South Sioux City with the Rev, Kevin Roach, pastor of River Hills Church officiating. Following the service there will be a lunch and time of fellowship at River Hills Church with the family. Private family graveside services will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Joyce was born January 15, 1941, in Worthington, South Dakota the daughter of Harold and Evelyn (Strom) Berg. She graduated from high school and married Gary L. Surber March 20, 1959 in Sioux City. She was a longtime resident of South Sioux City moving to Newcastle in 2007. Survivors include her daughter Gari Lynn Willoughby of Early, Iowa, two sons: Michael and his wife Melissa of Newcastle, Lloyd of South Sioux City, a sister June and her husband Wally Mulder of Foley, Minnesota, nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gary on May 28, 2000 in Sioux City, a son Louis and a sister Virginia Schmitz. She was a beautiful loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cared deeply for family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
