Dorothy Mae Blessing, 92 of Wakefield, Nebraska and formerly of South Sioux City passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012 at a Care Center in Wakefield, NE. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in South Sioux City with the Rev. Carol Jean Stapleton officiating. Graveside Services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church on Monday. Dorothy was born May 1, 1919 in Waterbury, Nebraska the daughter of Amos J. and Eva E. (Markley) Baldwin. She married Merrill E. Blessing on July 24, 1941 in Nevada, Missouri. He passed away on October 16, 1983 in Sioux City. She was employed at Aalfs Manufacturing for many years and did housekeeping for motels and physicians clinics. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, baking cookies and quilting. Survivors include a son David of Sioux City, a daughter Judy and her husband Kenneth Erickson of Ravenna, NE, two stepsons: Darrel and Gene, a brother: Howard of Memphis, Tennessee, a sister: Ethel Fox of Wakefield, NE, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merrill, a stepson: Merrill Jr, a brother: Frank Baldwin and a sister Margaret Petersen. Pallbearers will be Brett and Ken Erickson, T.J. Blessing, Cameron Scott, Bill Scott and Duane Tobias.
