John Raymond Ream

John R. Ream 82 of Brandon, S.D. formerly of South Sioux City passed away Wednesday March 14, 2012 in Sioux Falls, SD. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City with the Rev. Jerry Gilbreath officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8:00 P.M. (Today) at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. John was born March 14, 1930 in Dakota City, NE the son of Raymond and Marie (Giese) Ream. He graduated from Dakota City High School and attended Wayne State College for one year. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from November 9, 1951 until October 16, 1953. He married Sally A. Rasmussen on August 9, 1958 at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City. He was employed in produce at Sunshine Food Markets in South Sioux City. His parents owned and operated the Dakota County Herald. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his family. Survivors include his wife: Sally of Brandon, SD, two sons and their wives: Scott and Sandy Ream of Underwood, IA, Kris and Tamra Ream of Elkhorn, NE, a daughter and her husband: Kristene and Ray Watkins of Sioux Falls, SD, a sister: Lois and her husband Robert Harkins of Lincoln, NE, a niece: Sharon Harkins of Lincoln, NE, seven grandchildren: Joshua, Dustin, Austin, Nick, Alex and Kaleb Ream and Kayla Watkins, three great grandchildren: Brylie, Brayden and Creighton Ream. He was preceded in death by his parents. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nick, Alex and Kaleb Ream and Kayla Watkins. Pallbearers will be Scott, Kris, Joshua, Dustin and Austin Ream and Ray Watkins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
