Mary L. Reeger

Marilou “McQuistan” Reeger, 90 , of Wakefield, NE and formerly of Pender, NE passed away on Monday April 2, 2012 at Pender Community Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the United Church in Pender with the Rev. Steve Brazier officiating. Private graveside services will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE. Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Marilou, the daughter of Marion and Cora (Chambers) Cook, was born on December 5, 1921 at Dixon, Nebraska. She graduated from Pender Public School in 1941. Marilou and Lloyd G. McQuistan were married on March 5, 1941. Lloyd was in the Army Air Corps and was stationed at Fort Ord in California until he was sent overseas. While Lloyd was stationed in California, Marilou resided with her parents, Marion and Cora Cook, who had moved to Long Beach, California. Marilou and Lloyd returned to Nebraska after the war and moved to the farm where they raised their family. Lloyd passed away in October of 1968. In August of 1975 Marilou married Emerson Reeger and they resided in the town of Pender. Emerson passed away in August of 1986. Marilou enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting at church and playing piano for Sunday school. Marilou was a 50 year plus member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She belonged to Ladies Aid at church and Pleasant Valley Ladies Aid, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and she belonged to the Pender Community Hospital Auxiliary. Marilou loved spending time with her many friends and family including her 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Survivors include Daughter Marian Suter and husband John, 3 children and 8 grandchildren of Richfield, MN. Daughter Barbara Stanton and husband Joe, 2 children and 5 grandchildren of Pender, NE, Son Robert McQuistan and wife Karen, 2 children and 5 grandchildren of Lincoln, NE. Her twin brother Jack Cook and wife Elaine of Bend, Oregon. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Cora. Sisters, Edna, Edith, Ethel and Margaret. Husbands Lloyd McQuistan and Emerson Reeger. Memorials may be directed to the United Church of Pender or to the memorial of your choosing in memory of Mary Reeger.
