Melvin E. “Spanky” Kennelly, 55 of Sioux City passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at his residence. Services will be 2:30 P.M. Friday at the Dakota City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joan Frenzel officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. Abiding with Melvin wishes the body will be cremated after the service and private family services will be at a later date. Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Melvin was born November 21, 1956 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Elmer R. and Marilyn E. (Williams) Kennelly. Melvin worked for various trucking companies as an over the road truck driver. He also worked for Cloverleaf Cold Storage, Dakota Auto Glass and Irving F. Jensen Construction. He loved his music loud and his trucks fast. He was known for having the fastest and cleanest trucks on the road. He attended Dakota City United Methodist Church. Survivors include his son and his wife: Marc and Tik Scofield of Derby, KS, a sister: Karen Krumwiede of Onawa, IA, a brother: Dennis Kennelly of Omaha, NE a grandson: Mason Scofield, nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Marc Scofield, Eric Samson, Brooks Krumwiede, Travis Wisner, Kenny Jasperson and Mark Engel.
