Doris M. Bowker, 98 of South Sioux City formerly of Dakota City, passed away Sunday June 3, 2012 at a South Sioux City Care Center. Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday in the Dakota City Cemetery. Memorial Services will follow in the Dakota City Fire Hall with the Rev. Joan Frenzel officiating. Arrangements were under the care of Becker – Hunt Funeral Home. Doris was born March 5, 1914 in Hanson County, Fulton, South Dakota the daughter of Claude and Margaret (Parnell) Hildebrand. She married Earl P. Bowker on December 20, 1943 in Sioux City, Iowa. She was a caterer and waitress at the Sioux City Country Club and cooked and cleaned at the YWCA. She also did cooking and cleaning for various people. She was a Methodist and a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two sons: James and his wife Hon Sue of Texas and Jerry of South Sioux City, three daughters: Mary and her husband James Boots of Hudson, Wisconsin, Barbara Flandreau of Alpharetta, Georgia, Nancy and her husband Patrick Moore of Dakota City, a brother Leslie and his wife Jeannette Hildebrand of Gillette, Wyoming, a sister: Marguerite Riiff on Longview, Washington, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl on August 16, 2002 in Sioux City, eight brothers, three sisters, a grandson: Scott Boots and a daughter-in-law: Peggy Bowker.
