Cecil "Andy" L. Anderson

Cecil L. “Andy” Anderson, 70 of Onawa, Iowa and formerly of South Sioux City passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at a Sioux City Hospital. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City with the Rev. Randall B. Knuth officiating. Following the service there will be a lunch and gathering with the family in the church fellowship room. The body will then be cremated and a private graveside will be at a later date in the Community Cemetery, Schaller, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the church with the family present at 6 P.M. and a prayer service at 7 P.M. Becker – Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City is in charge of arrangements. Andy was born March 22, 1942 in Boone, Iowa the son of Elmer and Violet A. (Johnson) Anderson. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and during his time in the service he received his G.E.D. He also attended college for one year. He married Judy Phillips. He later married Velma Hummel who preceded him in death. On November 1, 1985, he married Janice M. James in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sioux City. He was an entrepreneur and had lived in Lake View and Schaller, Iowa and South Sioux City, Nebraska. He retired from Wells Blue Bunny in 2006 and then moved to Onawa, Iowa. In Onawa, he opened and operated Hometown Water Specialist Jander Soft Water. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, was secretary for the Lutheran Service Society, American Legion Post 129 in Onawa, had held various offices and was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club. Survivors include his wife Janice of Onawa, four daughters: Karla Pudenz of Kansas City, Missouri, Sheri and her husband Glenn Berry of Brooklyn, Iowa, Deann and her husband Mike DuBrall of LeMars, Iowa, Angela Anderson of Onawa, Iowa, a step-son Michael Gale of Chicago, Illinois, two sisters: Marvel and her husband Don Snyder of Ames, Iowa, Myrna and her husband Carl Riley of Olathe, Kansas, fourteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
