Martin L. Wermes

Martin L. Wermes, 74 of South Sioux City passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at a South Sioux City Care Center. Abiding by his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. There will be burial with a family graveside service 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in the Dakota City Cemetery under the direction of Becker – Hunt Funeral Home. Martin was born June 16, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Clarence J. and Mildred (Horsley) Wermes. He attended Leeds Elementary School and Heelan High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from January 21, 1956 until April 24, 1959. He married Nancy Ann Scott-Utterback on July 1, 1977 in Munhall, Pennsylvania. He was employed as a welder for Wilson Trailer and retired in 2005. Survivors include three stepsons: Jim Utterback of South Sioux City, John and his wife Carla Utterback of Sioux City, Jason Utterback of Beal Camp, Maryland, one brother: Terry Wermes and seven grandchildren,. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Nancy on January 21, 2012 in South Sioux City and a stepson: Jeff Utterback.
