Charlene C. “Char” Todd 71, of South Sioux City passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at a Sioux City Hospital. Memorial Services will be 2:30 P.M. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City with the Rev. Jerry Gilbreath officiating. Following the service there will be light refreshments and a sharing time with the family in the church fellowship hall. Becker – Hunt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Charlene Carolyn Cain was born April 6, 1941, in Sioux City the daughter of Roy Z. and Ethel (Johnson) Cain. She graduated from Central High School in 1959. She married Lyle R. Todd October 27, 1962 in Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux City. She attended Augustana Lutheran College in Rock Island, Morningside College, Wayne State College and graduated from Briar Cliff College with a teaching degree. She taught for several years before working for the Iowa Department of Human Services. She was a quality control investigator for many years and later was an income maintenance supervisor until retirement in 1992. Char was presently employed as office manager for Todd Realty. She was a past member of the South Sioux City Jayceettes and a current member of the South Sioux City Chamberettes. Char started the Women’s Softball League in South Sioux City and played in many tournaments. She loved playing cards, dancing, boating in Okoboji and cooking large dinners. Survivors include her husband Lyle of South Sioux City, a son Eric and his wife Dr. Dawn Todd of Maple Grove, Minnesota, a granddaughter Hannah Elizabeth Todd of Maple Grove, Minnesota, three close sisters-in-law: Carol Guillaume of Amarillo, Texas, Regina Ashleman and Donna Dygert both of Columbus, Ohio, a brother-in-law: Alan Todd of South Sioux City, many nieces and nephews and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
