Celeniz Carmalita “Sally” Velarde-Dixon, 81 of South Sioux City passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 at a Sioux City Hospital. A celebration of life service will be Sunday March 17, 2013 from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at 3111 Dakota Avenue, in South Sioux City, Nebraska. A memorial mass will be at a later date in Trinidad, Colorado. Becker – Hunt Funeral Home assisted the family with the local arrangements. Sally was born December 22, 1931, in Kim, Colorado the daughter of Daniel and Erminia (Garcia) Velarde. She graduated from high school and attended college for two years. She married Ronald Lee Dixon January 18, 1951 in Dakota City. She was formerly employed as a key punch operator and later as a computer inventory operator for Pamida. Survivors include a son and his wife Kenneth A. and Angelia Dixon of Sioux City, four daughters: Viviana Womack and her companion Randy Spears of South Sioux City, Jeanette and her husband Chris Kelley of Trinidad, Colorado, Yvonne and her husband Jesse Rice of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Rhonda Winkler and her husband Stephen Cummings of Ellicott, Colorado, three brothers: Salvador Velarde, Daniel and his wife Anita Velarde all of Trinidad, Colorado, Bernie and his wife Linda Velarde of Hoehne, Colorado, a sister Corina Montoya and sister-in-law Lisa Velarde both of Trinidad, Colorado, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronald on May 7, 2008 in South Sioux City and a grandson Dustin Ronald Dixon.
