Barbara A. Matz, 76 of South Sioux City passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 at her residence. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Roach officiating. Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, Nebraska. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Barbara was born December 4, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of John and Ann (Livermore) Murphy. She married John Matz April 8, 1961 at Elk Point, South Dakota. She was employed as a housekeeper for the Marina Inn for 15 years and retired in 2005. She was an avid Bingo player at Eagles Club, Ikes and St. Michaels. She had a green thumb and enjoyed planting flowers in the spring with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband John of South Sioux City, three sons: John Matz of South Sioux City, Jeff Matz of Ponca, NE, Corey and his wife Tonia Matz of Sioux City, two daughters: Joan Matz of Sioux City, Jenni Matz of South Sioux City, three sisters: Judy Welte, Marilyn Aspleaf and Sherry Mackey all of Sioux City, nine grandchildren: Jessica, Hollie,Blake, Melissa, Sarah, Amanda, Tara, Cain and Makenzie Matz and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be John, Jeff, Corey and Cain Matz, Jose Orozco and Kirk Jacobsen
