Robert “Bob” Krause 79, of Dakota City passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at a Sioux City Hospital. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at the Dakota City United Methodist Church with Rev. Joan Frenzel officiating. Burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home will be from 4 to8 P.M. Tues with the family present at 6 P.M. Bob was born May 7, 1933 in Winnebago, NE, the son of William A. and Rosa G. (Johns) Krause. He graduated from Winnebago High School. He served in the U.S. Army from January, 1955 until December, 1962 at which time he was honorably discharged. He was employed in maintenance and retired from Iowa Beef Processors. He married Catherine J. Broyhill May 17, 1968 in South Sioux City. She passed away August 8, 1992 in Sioux City. He served on the Winnebago Fire and Rescue Department for ten years and was a member of the Dakota City Fire and Rescue Department for over forty years. He had received numerous awards on the city, county and state levels regarding his achievements with the fire and rescue departments. Survivors include a son: David and his wife Pam Hackett of Sioux City, two daughters: Toddene Barnes of South Sioux City, Terri and her husband Rick Grant of North Sioux City, a brother William and his wife Donna Krause of Homer, a sister Helen and her husband Harold of Fremont, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and sisters, one daughter and one granddaughter. Honorary and active pallbearers will be members of the Dakota City Fire and Rescue Department. Memorial may be directed to the family for distribution.
