Ethel Marie Casey Andersen, 100, of South Sioux City passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at a Sioux City Hospital. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Albenesius officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. A lunch will follow the committal at the South Sioux City Senior Center. Visitation will be from 4 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Ethel was born February 14, 1913 in Ainsville, Ohio the daughter of George O. and Laura A. (Taylor) Michener. She came to Iowa with her parents and lived in the Lawton area. She attended Lawton Consolidated School and graduated from there in 1932. She married Joe Casey on October 15, 1932. They farmed in the Willis, Nebraska area. He passed away on July 30, 1966 in Sioux City. She married Marvin Andersen on July 1, 1972 in Ponca, Nebraska. Marvin passed away on January 12, 1975 in Sioux City. She was employed at James Drug for seventeen years. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was an active member of the South Sioux City Senior Citizens Center. She volunteered and held many offices and performed a variety of duties at the Senior Center. The center was her life with cards and visiting. Survivors include two daughters: Marie Clark of Columbus, NE, Joann Weber of South Sioux City, a brother: Earl Michener, five grandchildren: Michael (Tami) Clark, Lanette (Don) Friesen, Monica (Scott) Lindstrom, Loretta (Tim) Jones, Joseph (Amy) Weber, six great grandchildren: Derek, Jennifer, Kyle, Kristi, Austin, Easton and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Elza, Gus, Harry and Ernest, four sisters: Helen Horn, Hazel Goolsby, Dorothy McFarland and Gladys Michener and three grandsons: Lawrence Clark, Leslie “Marty” Clark and Patrick Weber. Pallbearers will be Joe and Austin Weber, Scott and Kyle Lindstrom, Michael Clark and Tim Jones. Memorials may be directed to the family or the South Sioux City Senior Center.
