Ray Freeman, 86, of South Sioux City passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013, at a Sioux City Hospital. Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City with Military Flag presentation by the American Legion. Graveside services will be 1 P.M. Saturday, June 8, 2013, in the Burwell Cemetery, Burwell, Nebraska. Ray was born April 16, 1927, in Burwell, Nebraska the son of William P. and Mary D. (Davis) Freeman. He graduated from High School and was an Air Force Veteran serving in the Korean War. He married Rita A. Wozniak. He ranched in Garfield County, Nebraska, and farmed in Dakota County Nebraska. He retired from the appliance service department at Younkers in 1988. Survivors include a son Timothy Ray and his wife Amy Freeman of Hubbard, Nebraska, a daughter Marchell D. and her husband Mick Matney of South Sioux City, a brother Milo Freeman of North Platte, Nebraska, a sister Esther Taylor of Burwell, Nebraska, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and his companion Mary McGinty of South Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, a sister and a great granddaughter, Olivia Freeman.
