Rodney Gene Snyder, 69 of South Sioux City passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at his residence. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in South Sioux Citywith the Rev. Carol Jean Stapleton officiating. Military graveside services will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, NE. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the church. Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Rodney was born December 13, 1943 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of John A. and Doris B. (Coonen)Snyder. He received his high school diploma. He married Charlyne R. Pojar on January 15, 1966 in Dakota City, Nebraska. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed as a machinist for Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad retiring in 1999. He was of the Methodist Faith. He was a member of the American Legion Post 307 in South Sioux City and was past commander. He also served as District #3 Commander and Area A Vice Commander. He was an active member of the American Legion Pool League, an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling and dedicated his time to his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Charlyne of South Sioux City, two daughters: Lynnette and her husband Preston Jacobs of Newell, IA and Trudi Snyder of Des Moines, IA, a brother and his wife Willard and Shirley Snyder of Sioux City, a sister Delores Gallup of Dakota City, NE, two grandsons: Anthony and Gabriel Jacobs and a granddaughter: Harley Webb. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Todd Vincent, an infant daughter Annette Marie, two brothers: Richard and Raymond and a sister Patricia Thompson.
