Eleanor L. Green, 93 of Dakota City passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at her residence. A Mass Of Life Celebration will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City with Rev. Jose Mendoza celebrant. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with a Catholic Daughters of America Rosary at 4 P.M. and a Scriptural Wake Service a 7:15 P.M. Eleanor was born June 24, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Andrysika) Szafranski. She was the oldest of seven children. She married Thomas H. Green May 25, 1940 in Highland Park, Michigan. Eleanor and her husband Tom moved with there two sons to Dakota City, Nebraska in May of 1946.She was an active member of St. Michael’s Parish family, the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America for many years. She worked for various companies and retired from Marian Healthcare Center in 1984. In the early years of her life Eleanor enjoyed, sewing, crocheting, gardening, hunting and fishing with family members. Survivors include her two sons: William J. Green and his wife Paula of Sylvester, Georgia and George F. Green and his wife Esther of South Sioux City, a younger brother Donald Szafranski and his wife Carol Bee of Livonia, Michigan, ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and fourteen great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Thomas February 8, 1985 in Sioux City, her parents and five siblings. Pallbearers will be Chris Trudeau, Jeff Hailey, George Green, Cody Trudeau, Jordan Green and Dan Meier.
