Charles A. Luehr

Charles A. Luehr, 84 of South Sioux City passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City with the Rev. Jerry Gilbreath officiating. Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Rosehill Cemetery in Emerson, NE. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Charles was born November 23, 1928 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Herman C. and Esther (Vaa) Luehr. He graduated from Emerson High School in 1946. He married Shirley Rohde on March 1, 1953 at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. He served in the Airforce from 1948 to 1950. He was a welder in construction for Lipsett Incorporated based in New York. He later then worked for Missouri Valley Machinery in Sioux City and worked for Nebraska Machinery in Norfolk, NE retiring in 1991. He was an avid Husker Fan and a member of First Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife: Shirley of South Sioux City, two sons and their wives Craig and Debra Luehr of Coon Rapids, MN, Terry and Carol Luehr of Plano, TX, a daughter and her husband LuAnne and Kirk Goergen of Kingsland, GA, two brothers and their wives: Lawrence and Marilyn Luehr of Emerson, NE, Robert and Gloria Luehr of Loveland, CO, four grandchildren: Kristin Luehr, Nathan and his wife Tracy Luehr, Corey and Jacob Goergen and two great grandchildren.
