Danny G. Blanford (Bompa) 65 of Sioux City passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2- 8:00 Monday with the family present from 5 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Following the committal at the cemetery there will be a lunch at the Triangle Masonic Lodge 3100 41st Street in Leeds. Dan was born January 27, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Robert and Joyce (Christiansen) Blanford. He married Bonnie Rose Moore on November 20, 1965 in South Sioux City, NE. He was self-employed in roofing and siding and also worked for Sioux City Foundry for seventeen years. He liked boating, fishing, camping, playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing dice and cards with the family, having a bud light with his son-in-law Mikey, grill outs, holiday get togethers, tinkering in his garage, attending to his garden, playing Parcheesi with his wife and playing his computer games. Survivors include his wife “My Loving Angel” Bonnie of Sioux City, three daughters: Debbie Young and Robert Kent, Dawn and Shane Soule and Dana and her fiancée Michael Lawhead all of Sioux City, three brothers: David and Paula, Darrell and Carol and Darwin and Debbie all of Sioux City, a sister: Ronda Sitzman of Sioux City, four grandchildren: Stephanie Ludwigs and her fiancée Jeremy Thompson, DJ Blanford, Brandy and Brandon Soule. Three great grandchildren: Mya, Michael and Aiden Thompson. Pallbearers will be Justin Hilton, Joshua Blanford, Heath Blanford, Stephanie Ludwigs, Brandon Soule and Debbie Young. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Roberta VanCleave, a grandson Brady Soule and his father-in-law: Fred D. Moore.
