Beatrice Pearl “Bea” Smith 73, of Dakota City passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 at a Sioux City Hospital. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Gums, pastor of Le Mars Bible Church officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, South Sioux City, Nebraska. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the family present at 6 p.m. Bea was born June 15, 1940, in Crescent, OK the daughter of Clarence A. and Ruby P. (Swinney) Webb. She graduated from Crescent Oklahoma High School in 1958. She married Edward W. Swanson. She was employed as a Legal Secretary for Baron and Wenell in Sioux City several years. She was then employed for the U. S. Postal Service retiring in 2002. She married Richard “Dick” B. Smith November 1, 1995 in Wakefield, Nebraska. Survivors include her husband Richard, a son Russell Swanson of Grand Rapids, MI, three daughters: Sue (Richard) Helderop of Bloomfield, MI, Dee Ann (David) Abel of Grand Rapids, MI, Celina (Jeffrey) McClaran of Waukee, IA, a step-son Brad Smith of Sioux City, two step-daughters: Stacey (Scott) Winter of Akron, IA, Kelley (Russ) Larson of Humboldt, IA a brother Tommy (Joyce) Webb of Edmond, OK, a sister Shirley (Chuck) Panick of Oklahoma City, OK, grandchildren: Patrick, Timothy, Daniel, David, Brandon, Jake, Amber, Krista, Todd, Victoria, Michael, Bryan, Samantha and Tara, great grandchildren: Nataleigh, Drayton and Lucas. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Charles Webb and Melvin Scoggin. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, cross stitch and loved to entertain family and friends. Pallbearers will be: Tim and Dan Swanson, Brandon Helderop, Jake Abel, Todd McClaran, Michael Akins, Bryan Larson and Patrick Swanson.
