Larry G. Walker, 74 of rural Winnebago died Sunday, November 17, 2013 at a Ponca, Nebraska Care Center. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City with the Rev. Kevin Roach officiating. A graveside service will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday in Omaha Valley Cemetery rural Homer, Nebraska. There will be no visitation prior to the service. There will be a lunch and time of fellowship with the family immediately following the service at the funeral home at Riverhills Church in South Sioux City Larry was born February 26, 1939, in Walthill, Nebraska the son of Amos O. and Bernice J. (Ross) Walker. He attended and graduated from Winnebago High School. He married Sharlien Kay Queen November 4, 1955 in South Sioux City. They lived in South Sioux City and Plainview, Nebraska before moving back to the family farm in Winnebago. Larry loved telling stories about working for Graham Brake and of his adventures on the road working for Stine Soybean. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports. He was a Husker fan his entire life. The last 25 years of Larry's life, he had many health issues. Larry could have complained but never did. He fought through every hurdle he was given with a smile on his face. Larry is admired for the quiet and purposeful way he lived his life. His wife Sharlien passed away May 19, 2007 in Sioux City. He then married Mona Stockham. Survivors include his wife Mona, two sons and their wives: Scott and Kerri of Kansas City, Kansas, Joel and Jennifer of Winnebago, a brother Jerry and his wife Mary Walker of Spring, Texas, three grandchildren: Ava, Hannah and Lauren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jim.
