William "Billy" Nieman

William (Billy) Nieman, 76 of South Sioux City passed from this life to the next at Mercy Medical Center on Sunday, December 1, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Roach, pastor of Riverhills Church officiating. Burial will be in the Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, Nebraska. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. William was born April 13, 1937, in Walthill, Nebraska the son of Wilhelm and Pauline Nieman. He married Betty Hittle. He was a longtime employee of IBP and Tyson Frozen Meats. After his retirement from Tyson Frozen Meats, he volunteered for many years at Siouxland Christian Food Pantry. He was well known by many for his time spent at Hy-Vee Café, Hardees and McDonalds. He was well known and loved by his family and many friends. Survivors include one daughter Debbie and her husband Kenny Essley of Lincoln, Missouri, a son Danny and his wife Jamie Nieman of Dakota City, four sisters: Betty and her husband John Bunch of Sioux City, Catherine Charles of Tacoma, Washington, Frances Morgan of Columbus, Nebraska, Judy Derochie of Sioux City, three brothers Donald of Sioux City, Richard of Dakota City, Robert of Winnebago and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rhett, Adam, Richie and Johnny Nieman, John Bunch and Rusty Derochie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his cherished wife Betty (Hittle) Nieman in 1968.
