Ivan F. Roost

Ivan F. Roost 88, of South Sioux City passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at his residence. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Carol Jean Stapleton officiating. Burial with graveside military service by the American Legion, Homer, Nebraska will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home with a Veterans Pinning at 7 P.M. by Hospice of Siouxland. Ivan was born February 13, 1925 in rural Jackson, Nebraska the son of Ferdinand W. and Kathryn A. (Walch) Roost. He graduated from Jackson, Nebraska High School. He served in the Army Air Corps during W.W. II. He married Adela J. McCulloch April 19, 1947 in Jackson, Nebraska. He retired from Hyman Freight Ways. Survivors include five sons: Ivan, Jr. and his wife Susan Roost and Marc and his wife Kenette Roost all of Homer, NE, Steve and his wife Debbie Roost of Dakota City, Kevin and Craig Roost both of South Sioux City, four daughters: Kathy Owen and Lori Peers both of South Sioux City, Linda and her husband William Carter of Allen, TX, Karen and her husband Roy Youker of Traverse City, MI, a sister Opal Ioline Eriksen of South Sioux City, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Adela May 27, 2011 and a brother Charlie Roost. Pallbearers will be Brandon and Matt Peers, Aaron and Ryan Roost, Pat Owen and Brenton Bisson.
