Richard Norman Lott, 83 of South Sioux City passed away Sunday January 19, 2014 at a South Sioux City Care Center. Abiding by his wishes the body has been cremated and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Becker – Hunt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Richard was born December 2, 1930 in Laurel, Nebraska the son of Tom and Bessie (Carmen) Lott. He graduated from South Sioux City High School. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln one year and received a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State College in 1952. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Bonnie Lee O’Dell June 10, 1953 in Carmel, California and just recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary. He was employed by Roy Broyhill from 1954 until 1986. He served on the South Sioux City council in 1959. He also owned and managed a number of single family homes in South Sioux City. Richard enjoyed family, golf, college football and vacationing with his wife, Bonnie in Las Vegas. Survivors include two sons and their wives: Richard J. and Cherrie Lott of San Diego, California, Robert T. and Rita Lott of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie January 3, 2014, a brother Tom “Tuck” Lott and a sister Joan Beak.
