Doris A. Watkins, 82 of Sioux City passed away at her residence with her family by her side Tuesday January 21, 2014. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Hubbard, Nebraska under the direction of Becker – Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Following the service at the cemetery there will be a lunch and a time of sharing with the family at the Hy-Vee party room in South Sioux City. There will be no visitation prior to the funeral service. Doris was born December 26, 1931, in Anthon, Iowa the daughter of Leo L. and Angeliene L. (McDermott) Chase. She married Hollas N.J. Watkins January 8, 1949 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hubbard, Nebraska. She lived in the Hubbard, Nebraska area most of her life and moved to Sioux City July 14, 1966. She was employed at Goodwill Industries many years. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Survivors include four sons: David and Tom of Sioux City, Steve of South Sioux City, Jeff and his wife Leisha of Tea, S.D., five daughters: Mary Saunders of South Sioux City, Susan Moore of Washburn, Wisconsin, Judy and Doug Kunze of Underwood, Iowa, Carrie Rustin and Julie and her husband Bob Carrier all of Sioux City, a sister Marvel Ruggles of Tulsa, Oklahoma, twenty-five grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hollas on January 30, 2005, three sons: John, Kevin and Timothy, and two daughters: Terri and an infant daughter Laurie. Pallbearers will be David, Thomas, Jeff and Eric Watkins, Chad Saunders and Joshua Claussen. Honorary pallbearer will be Steve Watkins. Memorials may be directed to the family.
