Va Loy Lewon, 71 of Ponca, NE passed away Friday January 31, 2014 at Elms Care Center in Ponca, NE. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday in the Faith Lutheran Church in Maskell, Nebraska with Vicar Chad Beckius officiating. Burial will be in the City Cemetery, Maskell, Nebraska. Visitation at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday. Va Loy was born September 22, 1942 in Ponca, Nebraska the daughter of Oren E. and Daryle M. (Nielsen) Bensen. She married Edward A. Lewon August 2, 1964. She was employed at Nebraska State Bank before her marriage. After she was married the couple farmed in the Newcastle, Nebraska area. She was employed at the Elm’s Nursing Home, Ponca, Nebraska in 1988 as a nurse’s aide and the activity assistant. She was a long time member of the Congregational Church in Newcastle, Nebraska. Survivors include a son Jeff Lewon and his companion Angelia Chapman of Jefferson, S.D., three brothers and their wives: Walden and Linda Bensen of Maskell, NE, Tyrone and Aleta Bensen of Stockton, MO, Conrad and Connie Bensen of Hawarden, IA and sister Roxane and her husband Roger Nelson of Battle Creek, Nebraska. Pallbearers will be nephews and nieces: Valerie Hall, Chris, Andrew, Bryan, Cy, Don and Jim Bensen, Misty Barrera, Dan, Jake, Tessa and Kate Nelson.
