Auley Betty Stewart, 99 of South Sioux City passed away Sunday February 2, 2014 at a South Sioux City Care Center. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City with the Rev. Jerry Gilbreath officiating. Visitation will be from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. Wednesday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the family present at 6:00 P.M. Auley was born October 27, 1914, in Fargo, North Dakota the daughter of Fred P. and Mary J. (Nelson) Wernet. She came to South Sioux City, in a covered wagon when she was two years old. She married Caryl G. Stewart July 3, 1934 in Pender, Nebraska. They had sixty-three years together. To this union five children were born: Mary Joann, Caryl M., Gary, Jimmie and Bonnie. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, a charter member the South Sioux City Eagles and the Fireman’s Auxiliary. Survivors include two daughters: Mary Joann Kleinberg, Bonnie and her husband Mike Prosser all of South Sioux City, two sons: Gary M. Stewart of Sioux Falls, SD, Caryl Stewart of Ft. Madison, Iowa, twenty grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, thirteen great great grandchildren and two on the way and a sister-in-law Anna DeVore of Central Point, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Caryl July 8, 1997 in South Sioux City, a son Jimmie and a grandson Justin James Stewart. Pallbearers will be Michael and Matthew Prosser, Gary Stewart, Patrick Hartman, Terry Weaver and David Stewart.
