Helen "Montgomery" Dunagan

Helen Elaine “Montgomery” Dunagan, 85 of South Sioux City passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at a Sioux City Hospital.   Services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Ring officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday in Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, Nebraska.  Visitation at the funeral home will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday.   Helen was born January 27, 1929 in Wakefield, Nebraska the daughter of Carl and Grace A. (Olson) Forsberg.  She graduated from Wakefield, Nebraska High School in 1946. She married Roland C. Montgomery May 29, 1946. He died June 5, 1985. She then married Vincent V. “Mike” Dunagan July 17, 2001 in South Sioux City. He died June 30, 2006 in South Sioux City.   She was employed at Green Acres Nursing Home, now Regency Square for over thirty years.    She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Dakota City and the Eagles of South Sioux City.   Survivors include three daughters: Bonnie Kubik of South Sioux City, Joan Monk of Elgin, Nebraska, Lori and her husband Mark Williams of Sioux City, three sons and their wives: Michael and Della Montgomery of Springfield, Vermont, Patrick and Joane Montgomery of South Sioux City, Robert and Diana Montgomery of Mile City, Montana a brother Richard L. and his wife Mina Munson of Surprise, Arizona, two sisters: Amber Solomon of Westminster, South Carolina, Karen and her husband Duane Prescott of Salix, Iowa, a sister-in-law Belva Forsberg of Columbus, Nebraska, 21 grandchildren 35 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and three brothers: Gordon Forsberg, Dale Forsberg and Dennis Munson.    Her grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.   Following the service Thursday there will be a lunch and sharing time at the Eagles in South Sioux City.
