Shirley D. Wilson-Leedom

Shirley Delores Wilson-Leedom, 90 passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Regency Square Nursing Home where she was surrounded by family. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with Chaplain Ron Pietz officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home. A lunch will follow at the Dakota City United Methodist Church. Shirley was born April 26, 1924, in Westfield, Iowa the daughter of Elmer and Nancy Jane (Leming) Orr. She was married to Raymond “Jim” Wilson on October 9, 1942. He passed away September 1969. Shirley then married George “Football” Leedom on November 19, 1970. He passed away November 8, 1982. She lived most of her life in Dakota City, NE until the summer of 1989 when she moved to South Sioux City, NE. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #376 of Dakota City, Nebraska. Shirley enjoyed her flowers and had a green thumb to prove it. Her sweet tooth for candy was never ending. She was a homemaker to her four daughters and adored her many grandchildren. She was a avid reader and followed her beloved WWF Wrestling for many many years. Those left to honor her memory include her four daughters, Linda (Chuck) Carson of Dakota City, Ne, Patricia “Pat” (Don)) Stingley of South Sioux City, NE, Inez “Inie” (Lee) Fortner of Kansas City, MO, Tami (Gene) Mari of South Sioux City, NE, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, two sisters, Dollie Hodges of Sioux City, and Edith Mandicino of Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, great granddaughter Savanna Juarez-Wilson, brothers, Milton Brubaker, Ward, Virgil, Russell and Harold “Jake” Orr, sisters, Ethel Frye, Alta “Sis” Hodges and Evelyn Orr who died as a baby. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Wayne” Jerry” Langseth, Chad Harris, Ty Lundberg, Joe Wilson, Justen “JR” and Ryan Chambers, Jimmy Langseth. Honory pallbearers will be granddaughters: Tina Langseth, Amy Yeager, Brandi McManigal, Keali Mari. The family of Shirley Leedom would like to thank the staff of Regency Assisted Living and Care Center and a special thank you to Hospice of Siouxland for the great care she received. She was a very giving person and will be greatly missed by all.
