J. Roger Hubbard, 75 of rural Dakota City passed away Tuesday June 10, 2014 in rural Dakota City of injuries received in a vehicle accident. A celebration of life service will be 7:00 P.M. Monday, June 16, at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Dakota City with interim Pastor Pete Speiser officiating. Following the service there will be a gathering in the church fellowship hall with the family. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church or the family. Becker – Hunt Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Roger was born June 23, 1938, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of S.R. and Margaret (Cleary) Hubbard. He graduated from Omaha North High School and the University Of Nebraska at Lincoln, where he was a member of the A.G.R. Fraternity. He married Beverly “Bev” K. Flack on June 7, 1959, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The family moved to Dakota County in 1968 and continued farming and he never retired. He loved his family and farming was his life. He loved attending all the grandkids activities and sporting events, especially recent high school and college graduations. He enjoyed fishing in his pond, golfing and tinkering with his antique tractors. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, camping, boating, Minnesota vacations, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He was proud of his family and changed their little part of the world. He was loved by many and a friend to all. Survivors include his wife Bev, a son Jim and his wife Jane Hubbard of Dakota city, and their children: Maggie, Beth and Anna; a daughter Lori and her husband Bill Riecken of Lyons, Nebraska and their children: Dakota, Montana and Arizona; a brother William R. and his wife Delores Hubbard of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces, nephews and cousins. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
