Robert Gene Hansen, 72 of Winnebago, Nebraska diedTuesday June 24, 2014 of injuries received in a farm tractor and train accident in rural Winnebago, Nebraska. A celebration of life service will be noon Saturday at the American Legion Hall in Homer, Nebraska. Abiding by his wishes the body was cremated and a family burial will be at a later day in Omaha Valley Cemetery rural Homer, Nebraska. Becker – Hunt Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Robert was born May 17, 1942 in Winnebago the son of Hans F. and Ruth M. (Oakley) Hansen. He was employed at I.B.P., Dakota Pork, and farmed in the Winnebago area. He married Rene L. Reese December 11, 1991 in Pender, Nebraska. He was a member of the Nebraska Fur Harvesters. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed growing watermelons and selling them. Survivors include his wife Renee, five sons: Kenny Hansen of South Sioux City, Fred (Debbie) Hansen of Emerson, Robert Jr, (Virginia) Hansen of Winnebago, Christopher (Elishia) Reese of Sloan, Rory (Kelli) McGinnis of Homer, three daughters: Robin Hansen of South Sioux City, Tonia (Ricardo) Atelano of South Sioux City, Tiffany (Josh) Kyte of Yankton, SD, sixteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, a son Don R. Hansen, two brothers: Paul and Hans Arnold, two sisters: June Hansen and Sandra Luesebrink, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Merril and Myvis Copple.
