Vera E. Adams, 83 of North Sioux City, SD passed away in her sleep on Monday, August 18, 2014 in a Sioux City Hospital. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen Niles officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be prior to service time. Vera Evelyn Allbaugh but known by her family as “Billie” was born January 27, 1931, in Pender, Nebraska the daughter of George W. and Judie (Eakins) Allbaugh. Her father was a sharecropper and later a land owner so Vera was raised on several farms in Thurston County Nebraska, then in southern Oklahoma in Lawton area, then back to Nebraska where she finished attending school in the Thurston. She often rode back and forth to school on “Kitten” her pony. In 1949 she started working at Waldbaum’s Eggplant in Wakefield, Nebraska. She married William “Bill” Adams February 13, 1952. Bill was in the service at the time and when he was on leave the couple traveled the east coast the first two years of their marriage. In their later years together they traveled extensively throughout the United States. Vera was the youngest and last survivor of eight siblings. She is survived by two children, a daughter Faye Coenen of Jackson, Nebraska and a son Wayne Adams of Sioux City, two grandchildren: Mitchell and David Coenen and two great grandchildren: Alex and Chris Coenen. Vera was also preceded in death by her parents and her husband Bill on December 18, 2008.
