Elaine M.. Koeppen

October 7, 1936 — September 21, 2014

Elaine M. Koeppen 77, of South Sioux City, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at her home after a lengthy illness of lung cancer. Services will be 10:30 A.M, Thursday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home  With the Rev. Stephen Niles officiating... Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Albaton, Iowa.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Elaine was born October 7, 1936, in Sloan, Iowa the daughter of Charley and Louise (Christianson) Collison. She grew up in  Albaton, on a farm, and graduated from Sloan High School. Elaine married Neil Russell Koeppen June 8, 1956. To this union two children were born. Teresa (deceased) and Russell of South Sioux  City, Nebraska. Her husband, Neil passed away January 11, 2001. Elaine had a long business career working for Insurance Companies in Peoria, Illinois, Madison, Wisconsin and Sioux City. She worked twenty-seven years for Security National Bank, and after retirement part-time at Regency Square. Beloved family members  surviving Elaine are her son Russell, granddaughters: Mindy Merchant of Fargo, ND, Christina Merchant-Keegan of South Sioux City, and a very special great granddaughter Hannah Louise Merchant-Keegan of South Sioux City, son-in-law Ron Merchant of Hubbard, NE, brothers and sisters-in-law: John (Mary) Collison of Sloan, Charley (Rachel) Collison of Oxnard, CA, sister and brother-in-law Darlene (William)  Krumwiede of Sioux City, brother-in-law George Hunter of Sloan, sisters-in-law Verla  (Tootie) Collison of Arizona and JoAnn (Koeppen) Junkans of Minneapolis, MN along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Neil, daughter Teresa brother Lyle Collison, sister Jean Hunter, great niece Danielle Withee, in-laws Russell and Lottie Koeppen. Pallbearers will be Ron, Randy, Rick and R.J. Merchant and Kevin and Kelly  Matney.  Special thanks to Dr. Kevin Folchert, the staff at June E. Nylen, Hospice, Bill Krumwiede, Rhonda Capron, Mary and Mindy for your kind care you gave Elaine.
