Kenneth F. Schulte

Kenneth F. Schulte, 58 of Sioux City, passed away  suddenly, Thursday, November 6, 2014 at a Sioux City Hospital.           Services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. David Fulton officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.             Ken was born May 31, 1956 in Sioux City, the son of George H. and Mary Phyllis (Day) Schulte.  He grew up on the family dairy farm near Newcastle, Nebraska where he enjoyed riding his dirt bike in Dixon County. He graduated from Newcastle High School and was married to Julie A. List for 17 years.             Ken spent most of his working years replacing heating and cooling systems in Sioux City area homes.  He loved talking to strangers, and often made a connection with homeowners and other folks in the HVAC industry.  About eight years ago he worked for a few months in Alaska and loved the region.  He retired in 2013 and spent his remaining time helping his family and friends with various projects.            He loved riding his motorcycle to the Black Hills, chowing down El Fredo's pizza with family, collecting sports cards, and keeping tabs on the Nebraska Huskers.  He was famous among his six grandchildren for bringing them candy and chocolates and they were overjoyed to see him arrive.            Survivors include two sons and their wives: Troy and Christine Schulte of Sioux City, Travis and Katie Schulte of Omaha, a daughter Renee and her husband Mickey  Sturges of Sioux City, six grandchildren: Adam and Liam Sturges, Zander, Elizabeth, Grant and Jason Schulte:  his mother Mary Phyllis Foster of Vermillion, South Dakota. Two brothers: William Schulte of Sioux City, Raymond Schulte of Newcastle, Nebraska, two sisters and their husbands: Jolene and Brian Moes of Osmond, Nebraska, Carol and Kelly Curran of Jefferson, South Dakota.
