Dwaine L. Oban, 82 of rural Dakota City passed away Wednesday at his residence. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev Janell Norton officiating. Burial with military graveside services will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday with the family present at 5:30 P.M. Dwaine Lyle was born May 3, 1932 in Loyalton, South Dakota the son of Tom and Esther (Walton) Oban. He married Joyce E. Hendricks April 2, 1952 in Worthington, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged June 30, 1963. Dwaine was co-owner of Petit Construction. He enjoyed the challenges of doing the grading of roads in the Tri-State Area. His pastime was driving mules. He enjoyed participating in parades and going on trail rides. He loved tinkering/restoring antique tractors. Dwaine was a member to the Dakota City American Legion. Survivors include his sons: Scott of Dakota City, Darrell of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Harlan of North Sioux City, SD, Dan and his wife DiAnn of South Sioux City, daughters: Janice Bracht of Long Beach, CA, Carolyn Oban of Dakota City, a brother and his wife, Thomas and Arlene Oban of Douglas, WY, a sister Beverly Burgod of Ipswich, SD, nine grandchildren: Jennifer, Kari, Stephanie, Michael, Katie, Meranda, William, Tim and Tina and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce September 14, 2006, a son Tim and two sisters: LaDonna and Shirley and a brother Virgil. Pallbearers will be Michael and Tim Oban, Ken Moore, Jason McKinley, Nic Holzerland and Brandon Victor.
