Jerry Ray Anderson, 78 of rural Dakota City passed away Friday February 13, 2015 at his residence. Abiding by Jerry’s wishes, the body has been cremated and a memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Dakota City with Rev.Karen Tjarks officiating followed with a military flag presentation. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home from 4 to 8 P.M. Jerry was born November 29, 1936, in Sioux City the son of Gilbert T. and Mildred B. (Kelly) Anderson. He graduated from South Sioux City High School. Jerry served in the U.S. Army from July 14, 1960. He was a member of the Eights Color Guard in Korea – 128 Dedication Ceremonies. He was honorably discharged June 28, 1962.He married Lenora Skinner. He later married Grace Ann Boals Sparling August 11, 1995 in Elk Point, S.D. He was employed for Mc Han Construction, Klinger Construction. He retired as a carpenter foreman. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in rural Dakota City. He served as president for twelve years and on the execitive board for six years for the Carpenter Union #948 He enjoyed taking care of his garden, doing yard work, feeding the birds and was an avid Husker van. Survivors include his wife Grace, two sons and their wives; David and Lori Allen of Dallas, Texas, Dale and Holly Anderson of Luverne, Minnesota, a step-daughter Samantha and her husband Kevin Boyce of Loveland, Colorado, a sister Nancy and her husband Marvin Franke of Las Vegas, Nevada, a brother Richard of Dakota City, ten grandchildren: James, Kaitlin, Rylee and Teegan Anderson Ashton Schupann, Brea and Brandon Crofoot , Shelby, Schyler and Savanah Boyce, two great grandchildren: Evan and Elly Crofoot. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-daughter Jenifer and a brother Vincent C. Anderson.
