Julia M. Derby, 78 of South Sioux City passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at a Sioux City Hospital. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Julia was born January 3, 1937, in Sioux City the daughter of James and Esther (Herren) McCue. She attended school in Sioux City. She was a longtime resident of South Sioux City. She married Lowell Dean “Lodi” Derby in Elk Point, S.D. She was a Lutheran. Julia loved to fish, being with her family and sharing time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo. Survivors include two sons: Fred Derby of Homer, NE, Jessie White of Sioux City, four daughters: Marilyn Cooper of South Sioux City, Karen Ortiz of Jefferson, SD, Sharon Derby of Oklahoma, OK, Irma-Renee McCoy of Sioux City, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband “Lodi” October 20, 1967, a son Larry Derby, three daughters: Susan Priest, Goldie Henderson, and Mary Lou King. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
