Lynn Edwin Jensen, 82, of Homer passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 at a care center in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Homer, Nebraska with Vicar Dave Hawkins officiating. Burial with graveside military services will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, Nebraska. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. at the church. Becker – Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City is in charge of arrangement. Lynn was born in Homer on September 23, 1932 to Edwin and Myrtle (Beardshear) Jensen. He graduated from Homer High School. Lynn married Marianna Nelson on December 20, 1952 in Walthill, Nebraska. He was drafted in the army and served at Fort Sill, Oklahoma for two years during the Korean War. After discharge from the service Lynn returned to rural Homer and was a farmer until retirement. Lynn was a 4-H leader for many years while his children were active in 4-H clubs and also served as a cub scout leader. Lynn was elected to the Dakota County Fair Board and the Dakota-Thurston County Fair Board. He was President of Greater Siouxland Fair Board for several years. Lynn was named Fairperson of the Year in 2002 by the Nebraska State Fair Board. He served over 30 years on the fair boards. Lynn was also a member of the Atokad Racing Association. Lynn was active with the American Legion Buckland Post 97 in Homer and served as Post Commander for them. He was a member of the Homer Fire and Rescue. Lynn also served on the Natural Resources Board. Survivors include children and spouses; Dianne (Todd) Titze, Omaha, Lorrie (Dan) Pearson, Seward, Gail Jensen and companion, Brenda Kelly, South Sioux City, Shelly (Steve) Bird, Dakota City, Philip (Susan) Jensen, Chadron, and Bruce (Joann) Jensen, Lincoln. He has 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers and spouses; Stanley (Jan) Jensen and Vern (Lucetta) Jensen and his brother-in-law Bernard (Pat) Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Marianna. Memorials may be made to American Legion Buckland Post 97 or Greater Siouxland Fair.
