Phyllis J. Dobney, 79 of South Sioux City passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 at a Sioux City Hospital. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. David Fulton officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the service at the cemetery there will be a lunch and gathering at the church. Visitation at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday. Phyllis was born February 20, 1936 in Thurston County, Walthill, Nebraska the daughter of Lewis O. and Mable L. (Dean) Twyford. She graduated from high school. She married James R. Dobney May 25, 1957 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. She was employed as an office manager with John Hancock from 1954 until 1987. She was then employed at the University of Illinois for five years. She returned to South Sioux City in 1992, and was employed at LeBlanc Communication for five years. She then was employed in the office at the Unitarian Church in Sioux City She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. Phyllis loved all animals, especially dogs and horses. Survivors include two sons: Christopher and his wife Renee of South Sioux City, Robert of South Sioux City, three step grandchildren: Tyler (Ashley) Anderson, Zachary (Saundra) Anderson, Jessica Anderson and a step great granddaughter Christina Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband James on April 10, 1986, in Champaign, Illinois.
