Charles E. Strong, 95 of Dakota City passed away at his home Thursday, July 30, 2015. Abiding with Charles’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Dakota City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gina Gile officiating. Burial with military graveside services will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 10:30 A.M. Monday until service time at the church. Becker – Hunt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Charles Edward Strong was born January 15, 1920, in Blair, Nebraska the son of Frank and Rachel (Simonsen) Strong. He graduated from Winnebago, Nebraska High School. Charles married Nellie E. Albers August 27, 1940 in Dakota City, Nebraska. He was an army veteran of W.W. II. and retired from Northern Natural Gas Company. He was a member of the Dakota City United Methodist Church and the American Legion Hanson Greenleaf Post 376 of Dakota City. Survivors include his wife Nellie, a son LeRoy C. and his wife Barbara Strong of Dakota City, a daughter and her husband: LaVonne G. and James Schmidt of Dakota City, a sister and her husband: Dorothy and Wayne Chamberlain of Sioux City, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Steven L. Strong, seven brothers: Oscar, Vernon, Earl, Ted, Willis, Melvin and Bradley Strong and a sister Mary Jane Root.
