Richard E. Saltsgiver 84, of Dakota City passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at his residence. Services will be 2:00 P.M.Monday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Carol Jean Stapleton officiating. Burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Sunday with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Richard Eugene was born May 4, 1931 in South Sioux City the son of Frank A. and Mary O. (Manor) Saltsgiver. He graduated from high school. He married Lydia Jane Church July 8, 1951 in Bremerton, Washington. He was a lifelong resident of the Siouxland area and retired as a foreman from Prince Manufacturing Corporation on February 14, 1992. He enjoyed square dancing, playing cards and working in his shop at home. He loved to fish. Survivors include a son Steve and his wife Margaret Saltsgiver of Kingman, AZ, two daughters and their husbands: Laurie and Rodney Crater of Fairfield, IA, Joni and Doug Greene of Dakota City, NE, eight grandchildren: Joe and Anne Saltsgiver, Rebecca, Kimberly and Alex Owen, Kyle, Randal and Allison Greene and two great grandchildren: Alina and Adalyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lydia January 25, 2014 in Dakota City, two brothers: Albert and Carl and a sister Bernice Sweisberger. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
