Lillian S. Hohenstein, 94 of rural Homer, Nebraska passed away Monday December 28, 2015 at her residence. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Hope Lutheran Church with the Rev. Charles Horkey officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery rural Homer, Nebraska. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday with a prayer service at 6 P.M. at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home. Lillian was born May 7, 1921, in San Antonio, Texas the daughter of James Basle and Emma (Brown) Hunt. She graduated from high school and married William N. Hohenstein April 4, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas. The couple moved to rural Dakota County and farmed until 1982. They rented out the farm land but continued to live on the home place. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, the Wednesday Morning Bible Class, Senior Soos of South Sioux City, Senior Singles, the Red Hat Society and the Royalty Club with the Iowa-Nebraska Bank. Survivors include four sons: William II of Tawas, Michigan, James and his wife Jill of Omaha, Nebraska, Douglas and his wife Vicki of Lenexa, Kansas, Kurt of Santa Monica, California, thirteen grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William November 3, 2001 in Sioux City, a daughter Sara Mertes, a brother Willis Hunt and a sister Elaine Golden. Memorials may directed to the church, the family or a charity of your choice.
