Bernadine Inez Russell

Bernadine Inez Russell, 87 of South Sioux City, passed away Wednesday January 13, 2016 at her residence.           Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jose Miranda officiating. Burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to8 P.M. Sunday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 P.M.           Bernadine was born March 8, 1928 in Sioux City the daughter of John L. and Dora E. (Beatty) Bateman. She met her lifelong sweetheart, Marvin G. Russell, in the kindergarten class of 1933. She graduated from South Sioux City High School. Bernadine married her sweetheart April 24, 1948, in South Sioux City.           She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Life time member of the P.T.A. and helped to organize the Class reunions.           Survivors include her husband Russell of South Sioux City, a son Victor Lee of Honolulu, Hawaii, a daughter Rebecca Louise and her husband Les Clawson of Denver, Co, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.           She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to everyone. She loved to sew, bake and crochet.           She was preceded in death by a son Michael Alan Russell, a brother Donald Bateman and an infant sister Dora Bateman.           Pallbearers will be Ted Voss, Milt Peters, Jack Bobier, Ron Hunoff, Ray Otto and Mike Claussen.
