Dorothy Alice Lester

Dorothy A. Lester, 93 of South Sioux City, passed away Sunday February 21, 2016 at a South Sioux City Care Center.           Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday at Glad Tidings Church with the Rev. Michael Ring officiating. Burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday with a prayer service at 7 P.M.           Dorothy was born February 2, 1923 in rural Winnebago, Thurston County, Nebraska the daughter of William E. and Mary A. (Bowman) Rich. She graduated from Winnebago High School in 1941. She married Owen W. “Brownie” Lester March 6, 1943 in South Sioux City. She was employed as manager at My Favorite Cleaners in South Sioux City for twenty five years.           She was a member of Glad Tidings Church in South Sioux City.           Survivors include a son Richard and his wife Sandy Lester of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, a daughter Renee and her husband Jim Colyer of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, a brother Orville and his wife Shirley Lester of Kalamazoo, Michigan, two sisters: Wilma Beltz of Richardson, Texas, Myrna Jones of Kalamazoo, Michigan six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson on the way.           She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Owen June 2, 2014 in Sioux City and several brothers and one sister.           Pallbearers will be Grandchildren: Rich Lester, Jr, Mindy Johnson, Ashley Helget, Matt Colyer and Dan Lester and a nephew Leon Scherner.
