Rodney Lee Fredricksen 64, of Dakota City passed away of natural causes Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at his residence. Abiding by Rodney Lee’s wishes, the body has been cremated and a private family service was held at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home. Rodney Lee was born August 2, 1951 in Sioux City the son of Sigvart R. and Esther (Bobier) Fredricksen. He graduated from high school. He was a SP4 in the U.S. Army serving from November 2, 1971 until December 8, 1972. He received the National Defense Service Metal. He married Dianne D. Hickey March 17, 1974. He volunteered with the Woodbury County Sherriff’s Reserves for ten years and was on the Iowa Board of Directors for two years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, his hunting dogs and reading. He was a member of American Legion Post 376 of Dakota City, Nebraska. Survivors include his wife Dianne, two sons: Travis and his wife Shannon of Springdale, Arkansas, Ty and his companion Jill Rooney of Dakota City, a daughter Kelly and her husband Dave Weatherill of Grand Island, Nebraska, a brother Darold and his wife Maxine Bobier of Arvada, Colorado, a sister Nancy her husband Bob Hamer of Omaha, Nebraska and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Dwayne and Ronald and a sister Dolores Suber.
