Freida C. “Freddie” Sherrill, 80 of Sioux City formerly of South Sioux City passed away Wednesday September 7, 2016 at a Sioux City care center. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in South Sioux City with Rev. Gina Gile officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home will be from 4 to8 P.M. Sunday with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Freida Colleen Sherrill was born November 1, 1935, in Chariton, Iowa the daughter of Thomas F. and Leila (Hancock) Taylor. She graduated from Gilmore City, Iowa High School in 1954. Freida received her degree in nursing from the Methodist School of Nursing in Sioux City. She was employed at the Methodist Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital. She was one of the first nurses to help set up the Neo-Natal Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital. She also was employed at the hospital in Winnebago, Nebraska. Freida married John D. Graybill. She later married Albert W. Sherrill March 27, 1981 in South Sioux City. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in South Sioux City, a life member of the P.T.A. She received an award for the Outstanding Young Women of America in 1970. She loved feeding and watching the birds and taking care of her flower gardens. Survivors include her sons Jeffery and his wife Jodie Graybill of Sioux City, Daniel Graybill of Rapid City, SD, her daughters: Theresa Hineline and her partner Mark Lee of Belleview, Washington, Bridget and her husband Gary Harras of Baker, Fl, step-sons: Albert and Doug Sherrill, step-daughter: Linda Barreras, two brothers: George (Jean) Taylor of Amelia Island, FL, Frank (Jane) Taylor of Brandon, SD, two sisters: Norma Hauck of Livermore, IA, Barbara (Gary) Kannenberg of Junction City, KS, nine grandchildren and step-grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Freida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert Sherrill, September 21, 2007, two step-children: Micky Sherrill and Lazette Coleman and a brother and his wife Norman and Susan Taylor. Honorary pallbearers Timothy Munn, pallbearers will be: Terry Weaver, Steve Hauck, Ken Hauck, Darwin Taylor, Derrick Colyer and Brandon Rasmussen.
