Jeanine Jeri (Longwell) Harris longtime resident and Homer and Dakota City, Nebraska passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Mercy Medical in Sioux City, Iowa. Services will be 11:00 A, M. Saturday St. Paul Lutheran Church in Homer with the Rev. Gary Harris, a relative, officiating. Burial will be in the Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, Nebraska. There will be a time for sharing memories and a lunch following the service at the cemetery at the church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home. Jeanine was born in Homer, NE on May 6, 1944 to Gerald (Jerry) and Erna Longwell. She received her diploma from Homer High School. Jeanine married her high school sweetheart, Thomas James Harris, in 1960. Tom and Jeanine had three children, Deborah Lynn Garnand (Steve) of south Sioux City, NE, Laurie Lee Jenkins (David) of Sioux City, IA and Bradley Allen Harris (Kay) of Dakota City, NE. Tom and Jeanine farmed in the Homer area for many years before starting their own business of Harris Amusement. She also went to work in the Human Resources Department at Tyson in Dakota City where she eventually retired after twenty-eight years. Jeanine was most proud of her family. She loved hosting holidays, birthdays and other occasions. Her greatest joy was to see her children, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Rodney and John. She is survived by her husband, children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
