Richard “Dick” Nieman, SR, 84 of Dakota City passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016, at home. Services will be 11:30 A.M. Thursday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Gina Gile officiating. Burial with military graveside service will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 P. M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Richard was born December 26, 1931 in Homer, Nebraska the son of William and Pauline (Jones) Nieman. He married Norma Leaver. He was a Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was as a truck driver for Brower-Mid West Asphalt Paying Company when he retired. His passion was attending auctions. Dick was a member of the Dakota City American Legion Hanson, Greenleaf Post #376. Survivors include two sons: Richard Jr and his wife Jodie Nieman of Dakota City, John Nieman of Sioux City, a step-son Darren Miller of Sioux City, a brother Donald and his companion Phoebe Nieman of Sioux City, four sisters: Betty (John) Bunch, Judy Derochie of Sioux City, Francis Morgan of Columbus, Catherine of Washington, three grandchildren: Adam Nieman, Rhett Dickerson, Haley Kraai, one great great granddaughter October. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Robert and Billy. Pallbearers will be Adam Nieman, Rhet Dickerson, Kody Barclay, Rusty Derochie, Tucker Riedmann and Joey Langseth.
