Richard "Dick" A. Anderson

November 1, 1931 — April 25, 2017

         Richard Arlan “Dick” Anderson, 85, of Dakota City passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017,  at local care center.           Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City with the Rev. Stephen Niles officiating. Military services and burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Following the service at the cemetery, there will be a lunch for family and friends at the church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the family present at 6 P.M.           Dick was born November 1, 1931 in South Sioux City the son of Gilbert R. and Mildred B. (Kelley) Anderson. He married Lois Geraldine “Gerry” Reed May 1, 1954 in the First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City. He was a Navy Veteran, serving from 1950 to 1955. He was a clerk in the South Sioux City Post Office and retired as Post Master from the Dakota City post office in 1985.           Dick was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City, the American Legion Cownie-Church Post 307 in Dakota City and V.F.W. Hirschbach – Watson Post in South Sioux City.           Survivors include five sons and their wives: Jeff and Cathy of South Sioux City, Derek and Cindy of Dakota City, Kurt and Kathy of Lincoln, Dan and Beverly of Unadilla, NE, Rean and Gina of Dakota City. A sister Nancy A. (Marvin) Franke of Las Vegas, NV, ten grandchildren: Carrie, Richard, Breanna, Colin, Jared, Megan, Logan, Laken, Evin and Ashlyn, and a great grandson Connor Kenny.           Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gerry on Jun1, 2011, and two bothers: Vincent C. and Jerry R. Anderson.           Pallbearers will be: his sonsand Francis Hoeing.                    In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a memorial donation to the First Presbyterian Church, 125 E 21st Street, South Sioux City, NE 68776.
